How an implant works

Three parts, one new tooth

The implant post acts like a root. An abutment connects it to a custom crown that looks and works like a natural tooth.

Is an implant right for you?

A good fit if you have…

✓  One or more missing teeth

✓  A tooth that needs to come out

✓  A loose partial you're tired of

✓  Healthy gums, or gums we can treat first

Something else may work better if…

–  You'd rather avoid surgery. A bridge or partial can help.

–  Your jawbone needs support. Bone grafting may come first.

–  You have health issues that slow healing. We'll talk it through.

–  You're missing most of your teeth. Ask about dentures.

Implant or bridge?

Both replace a missing tooth. We'll help you pick what fits your mouth and budget.

Exam and 3D scan

We check your mouth and take a CBCT scan to see your bone in 3D.

Placing the implant

We numb the area, place the post and give it time to bond with the bone.

Your new crown

Once it has healed, we attach an abutment and a custom crown.

Good to know

Does getting an implant hurt?

We numb the area, and laughing gas is available. Some soreness, swelling or bruising afterward is normal.

How long does it take?

The implant needs several months to bond with the bone before the final crown. Your plan will include a timeline.

How long do implants last?

With good care and regular checkups, implants can last many years.

Paying for implants

Some insurance plans help with part of the cost. Members save 10%, and HFD, Cherry or CareCredit can spread payments out.

Dental implant questions

Do you place implants in your office?

Yes. We handle implants from start to finish, from the 3D scan and placement to the final crown.

What is a CBCT scan?

A 3D X-ray that shows your jawbone, nerves and sinuses so we can plan where each implant goes.

Am I too old for implants?

Age alone usually isn't the issue. Your overall health and bone matter more, and we check both at your consult.

Can I get an implant right after an extraction?

Sometimes. It depends on your bone and gums. Some cases need healing time or a bone graft first.

Does insurance cover dental implants?

Some plans cover part of it. We'll check your benefits, and financing is available for the rest.
